About T.N.T.

Some of our fondest memories are linked to very distinct scents. For me- it’s my childhood home, my parents, and oddly enough…antiques! I grew up in a historical home in Covina, CA. My Mother was an interior designer in the late 70's-80's and she had an amazing eye for design. She was also known as the ‘Queen of Wallpaper.’ My father, mainly a project engineer in the electrical industry, was a jack of all trades. His ability to cut perfect angles while woodworking or flawlessly paint a room are skills very few have. My childhood home had exposed wood stairs and flooring. I recall spying on my family through knots in the floor boards from the second floor. When we had to wash the floors it always sent a waft  of “wet wood” smell lingering throughout the house and is a life-long scent that will be forever ingrained. Sawdust from fresh cut oak wood on one of my father’s carpentry projects…ingrained. Just the simple musk of my parents clothing - ingrained.

As I’ve grown older, the scents experienced throughout my day to day bring back all of these memories. And the one that hits home the most recently for me…Antique Stores! My parents would go every weekend, and what began as me being forced to go quickly evolved into loving to go! Entering an Antique store, there just somehow always seems to be a note of cedar with a hinge of dirt. Sounds crazy, I know! But the second I walk through those doors it’s like I’m 5 years old again on a Sunday afternoon with my parents. Because of them I developed a love for the world of Antiques and Design early on. Fast forward to today, that love has only grown as I’m able to visit my local thrift stores and see the same items and brands my parents collected all those years ago. The joy, the excitement, the ‘rush’ (haha) when you find that gem hidden in the back shelf…I’m just a little girl again with my mommy and daddy.

I want to provide that same feeling and joy to others, but also with an added purpose! My goal for T.N.T is ultimately to help preserve and restore the craftmanship and design of items from ‘back in the day,’ but also hoping my individually curated scents might just create some of those cherished memories as well!
